I have been flyfishing since age 5, and started tying at age 7. I am now 53 (Yikes!).
I helped start McKenzie Flies in 1988, and was their production and tying manager until 1995. My job was to research new patterns, acquire materials for overseas factories, travel to the factories to teach new methods, and showcase the flies and materials at consumer shows, dealer shows, and to individual shops.
Currently, Rainy's Flies has 54 of my pattern designs in production for worldwide distribution.
Part of being a Tying Innovator for Rainy's is to come up with new tying styles and patterns using the most cutting edge materials available, so it sounds like we could benefit each other!
During 1993 &1994 I hosted segments of an ESPN Saturday morning fishing show called "On The Fly". There were some good adventures with camera crews in the wilds of Oregon, but I also did most of the "Tyer's Bench" portion of the show.
