What our customers are saying about Togens Fly Shop
I was dry fly fishing the other day. Our catch was lake trout and rainbows to five pounds. I was surprised at how strong your Togen Dry fly hooks are, no straightening or breaking.
Kamloops, BC, Canada
I ordered some of your fly hooks and could't wait to get them in my hands. As soon as they arrived I preformed a destructive test on them. I am not an easy person to satisfy but these hooks past the test with flying colors. Thanks for what you are doing for us fly fishers. I will definitely be ordering more.
I am wondering if your hooks will always have the same numbers? I purchased some of your nymph hooks and went coho fishing, caught coho's to sixteen pounds with no problems with the hooks. Keep up the good work.
I have tyed on and fished a lot of different hooks finding your hooks to be very good. They seem to be somewhat forgiving as they don't break when I have snagged as other hooks I have purchased. I will be purchasing more from you.
Just bought a few hundred hooks from your E-Bay auctions and received them today. Even though the price on E-Bay was a little higher I thought they were one of the best deals out there. They are great quality and I am looking forward to tying with them this winter.
I'll recommend them to my associates and I'll buy them through this site from now on. Nice job providing items at the best prices I have seen in many years and I have been tying since 1969. Thanks!....Kerry
Thanks again for the great product that you offer.
First let me say how relieved my wallet was to find your hooks. I bought 600 through eBay and like the quality and the price. How often do you get both qualities in one item?
I am a Site moderator forwww.flyangler.ca in Edmonton I am going to do a product review this fall and I just wanted to let you know. There is nothing negative in the review and when it goes up I will send you a link. Thanks again I look forward to dealing with you again in the future.
I recieved my first order of hooks a couple of weeks ago. I tied up some stuff and got a chance to try them on some 15-20" Rainbows and Browns in a local river. I was impressed with the strength and quality of your hooks, for the price they are a great deal.
Littelton, Co. USA
I like the hooks very much, and I am PICKY. I will tell my friends, I realy thought the bonus was special, as well, thank you again.
Hey fellas, I have bought about 300 of the Black Nickel size 2 hooks in the last two years, they are awesome, the only thing I wish was better, is offering a few more sizes!!!
In any event, I have a nice picture or two of a few salmon that were caught this year by my father or myself with your hooks. I tie large stonefly patterns, I call them stoneflies, but the flies were created by me a few years ago and are a mix of flash, translucentcy and wire. I changed to tying them on your black nickel hooks for the shape and the price.... unbeatable.....
I have bought a number of hooks from you already on eBay. The quality and prices have impressed me. Thanks for being there. I hope your business is going well because you certainly do offer service, value and quality.
Just a quick note to tell you how pleased I am with the hooks I received today. Great quality at a very good price. I'll be back again. Thank you so much!
thanks for my recent order
Order# -----------92, this order came with speed and very good quality hooks and beads. this was my second order with you and I am very satisfied. I will be back with another order soon, your prices and quality are hard to beat, thank you.
The order arrived in great shape today's mail. Thank you very much for your response and for your quality service! I will be ordering again when I can figure what I will be tying this summer.
Bill, I wanted to let you know that the reel you sold me works very well. The drag is smooth and consistant. I've landed dozens of fish in the Skeena River now, including sockeye, coho and the steelhead in the attached photo. Thanks again. (see photo on our photos page).
I just wanted to share some photos of a Bigmouth Buffalo that I caught on one of your nymph hooks. I absolutely love these hooks and they are strong as could be. This was landed on a clouser tied on the nymph hook and a 2 weight fly rod with 4 lb test tippet. (see photos on our photos page).
Thanks for the prompt delivery of my order. I am very pleased with the hooks. Since I have been tying for 55 years, I know good hooks when I see them.
I just want to say thanks for offering such great streamer hooks. I have been tying bunny leaches with the 2x streamer hook for about 4 years now which have been deadly on Ozark rainbows and browns. The attached was caught on a bunny leach streamer tied on a togen 2x streamer hook in October 2011. The fish weighed 14.5lbs and measured 32"x18.5".
I stocked up on streamer hooks the last time I ordered but will be returning for future purchases.
See photo of this beautiful Rainbow on our Photo's page.

Cheers, and hope to be catching fish soon....
Got the order today and happy, happy, happy with the fine service. Thanks again till next order.
I got the package yesterday. Everything was great as usual.
The Hooks are High End quality and not different to other Hooks with great Brand Names. I’m impressed!
I’ll buy more from Your Store in The future.
Thanks again for the good Deal and Your fantastic service!
Best Regards from Germany & Fish On!
that's great customer service indeed! Thank you.
By the way I used the new fishing line I got from you and it's great, not a coil in sight, a pleasure to use.
A short note expressing my appreciation for Togen hooks. I recently ordered and received 2100 hooks. I am impress with the quality and especially the consistency and strength of the wire used in these hooks. Whoever is the manufacturer has a wonderful quality control department. I have not inspected all 2100 hooks but so far I have not found a single problem as I have with hooks supplied by other vendors.
We just completed our yearly Casting For Recovery Program here in North Idaho and as usual it was a profoundly moving and beneficial event. If you are not aware of the program it is an opportunity for women who have experienced cancer to use fly fishing as a recovery program to develop physical and spiritual strength.
One of our volunteers who helped this week happens to be a FFF Certified Master Casting Instructor and is an absolute expert when it comes to the art of casting a fly rod. We had a little down time and I asked if he would evaluate a rod for me and give me his expert opinion of a rod that I had with me and that I was also using. He answered in the affirmative. The rod in question was your 4wt 4 piece 9' rod with your new floating line and also your wide arbor reel. It is interesting that this event took place in the presence of about 15 of some of the best fly fishermen in the North West and the interest was intense.
Skip inspected the rod and asked the usual questions and then proceeded to cast the rod on the lawn before a group of extremely experienced guys and to put on a performance that I wish I could have caught on film! He not only made the rod perform but did it in a truly impressive manner. To get to the important part his opinion was that it performed extremely well and that the line also was capable of a high level of casting performance. It is interesting that he made the comparison to his very expensive Sage rod that is the absolute top of the line in the Sage inventory.
When told the price of the rod and the case/extra tip the entire group was extremely impressed and interested in your company. His only comment to the negative was that as setup the outfit was a little heavy and much of that can be assigned to the size of the reel that I had on it.
Hopefully some business will come from the demonstration and I also pointed out that you have excellent tying materials and other items of interest. I must confess that I failed to take some business cards with me to hand out but I will correct that at our next get together next month.
By the way you never answered me as to what you wanted me to do with the extra reel, let me know.
Hope that you are feeling well and enjoying the summer.
Just wanted to let you know that I tested those beads this week. First cast with a rainbow bead head caddis pupa and I had a fish on in less than 3 seconds. I barely had enough time to get the slack out of the line. After that it was regular action while I had the fly on. I liked that the takes were more aggressive than on other flies without the rainbow beads. I'll be using them in the future.
Is their any particular patterns that the browns beads work better on?Also
the fly line that id purchased from Togens works really well. Thanks Roger
Just wanted you to know that your fly lines, and the windjammer in particular, perform as well as any I've used over the (many) years.
Hello From New Zealand
hooks arrived thanks very much = very happy !
I just returned from Crowley Lake catching bows, browns, and cutthroat to 20" and 5-6lbs. My favorite rod on this outing was your Togen 9'- 6", 6 weight two piece rod. I enjoy the extra length of the 9'-6" rod for improved hook setting, especially when fishing from a float tube. I prefer the heavier 6wt. as opposed to the 4 and 5wts. for the added strength when fighting these large fish and for increased casting strength when the nasty winds pick up. The two piece is my preference for casting and fishing, but I know that many of your customers travel by plane to their destinations and a four piece would be beneficial for these customers. I feel that the two piece rods have more strength at the butt half and more touch delivered to the tip than the four piece and if not traveling regularly by plane, would recommend the two piece.
P.S. I am VERY impressed with the Togen reels. I have been using the a702a1 5/6/7 for freshwater and the 7/8/9 for salt with zero issues while catching many large fish putting the drag to the test.:)
Good morning Bill and Happy New Year! Just wanted to let you know the hooks and beads I ordered arrived the other day. I am tying up a bunch flies for a trip to Pyramid in March and I am very pleased with the hooks and beads. Very sturdy hooks and the beads are all uniform and solid. I will be ordering from you more in the future. Keep up the great work.
Perfect and thank you...love your hooks and especially the service...
Update: to date, have sold about 20,000 flies tied on Togen hooks with zero complaints.
Tim (Custom Fly Tyer)
thanks for the prompt service as usual, quality at an affordable price
Bill,as promised, Im reporting my experience with the reel I bought from you.....excellent ! fished several lakes in the interior May and into June. The reel performed flawlessly, even on 8&10lb screamers into the backing.Good solid reel with smooth, no worries drag. Your brown magic beads, also proved to be a "more than welcome addition" to some of my chronies.I now have one I call the "double brown".....it was the best of the season! Thanks.........Yankee Tom
Fly tying success is akin to fishing success, you’re happy to bore tears out of your fishing buddies, describing the instant of clarity when goat nostril was the perfect tailing fiber for your pre-menopausal emergent mayfly adult.
Thank you very much. Your products are great. Your customer service is excellent. My hat is off to you.
Greatly appreciate the kind response and words.
With customer appreciation and responses like i have received from you, you are a great group and you all receive a #1 customer satisfaction rating from me.
Have a great day Bill, best to all at Togens Fly Shop.
Thank- you for the wonderful service and goods, which arrived today.
Have a wonderful day Bill and look forward to future orders.
Just letting you know that I have receive your hooks today
I like to say thank-you for prompt service and quality
and looking to future business with you.
Bill,I never questioned your integrity for a moment....thanks for your responce, and I'll be looking forward to adding this stuff, to my already "too much" material pile!!! I'm quite sure you know exactly what I mean!!
I'll be tying flies, and champing at the bit....waiting for next spring. PS.... have really enjoyed the reel I got from you a couple of years ago...large arbor, very smooth and instantanious drag. It has tamed down several "double digit" pennask.Your "brown magic" beads....more than an incidental part of the picture!!.....Thanks again Bill............Tom
Bill, recieved my order today...thank's. The 2x strong curved nymph hooks look very nice, I chucked one up in the vice, and pulled it around, this way and that. Nice tough hook...I believe it will stand up to heavy trout just beautifully! Of course, I'm hoping to test that theory next spring! I'll tie some bugs on them this winter........The tungsten brown magic beads, do appear to be a somewhat "truer brown" over the tungsten, as opposed to brass. Not that the brass ones were overlooked by many fish! I had tied with some "brown metallic" beads that I got from the fly shack, in the past. Your brown magic beads...hands down....are the favorite's.
Thanks again Bill, will let you know how your 2x strong nymph hooks did for me next spring, though, I have little doubt as to their goodness.....Tom (Yankee Tom) PS...have a look at the veevus thread, if you havn't already. It goes all the way down to 16/0, nice colors and quite strong for its size. The smaller sizes...great for useing on heavy wire hooks...the 6/0 is two strand, and can be opened up, to dub with.

Well thank you so much, you guys at Togens are truly the best! Your customer service IS #1...:))
Another happy customer.
From Vancouver Island.
Hi: I received my parcel yesterday and am very pleased with your products and service. Very pleased to be able to deal with a Canadian retailer who carries materials we need here on the west coast.
Just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying the new jig hooks. They have absolutely everything I could ask for in a jig hook, a black nickel finish and a sharp, barbless, bent in hook point. They are a joy to tie on and look great for a variety of tactical competition nymph patterns. Is there any way that you guys could expand your range of barbless hooks? I and many other tiers would definitely appreciate it if you were able to manufacture or stock barbless tactical versions of hook bends like the czech nymph/scud, wet fly/nymph, dry fly and even emerger. Just a suggestion as I think you are providing a great product at a great price, especially with your jig hooks.
New line of Barbless Togen Hooks coming early January 2017. (Bill) Barbless hooks are in now.
Consider me a big fan of your white tipped beads.
I have been using your white tipped beads. They seem to fish great and it is a real plus to have the suggestion of gills included in your fly without the hassel of tying in the gills.
Have you considered adding Tungsten copper white tipped beads to your line up?
We introduced the white tipped beads last year after a lot of discussion with our manufacturer on how to accomplish this feat and still be competitively priced. They have now mastered a technique on applying the white tip. We now offer them on our most popular colour's we could add copper to the mix in brass and tungsten however I need a few more requests so that I know their will be a demand for white tipped coppers. We are also considering changing the white tip to UV white tip as they fish even better than the normal white. For your information the white tipped beads have become a favorite for a lot of our customers, not only as a less frustrating way of tying but they also fish very well from all the reports I get. So get your fly fishing buddies to email me to support your request for white tipped coppers.
Tight lines and loops my friend.
